Nestled amidst the picturesque scenery of Carcassonne, La Metairie is more than just a café; it’s an experience crafted with love and flavor. Located at 3 Chem. de Montlegun, 11000 Carcassonne, France, La Metairie offers diners a charming ambiance paired with breathtaking views over the iconic Medieval City, making it a perfect spot to unwind.
This quaint café is renowned for its wood-fired pizzas, which attract both locals and visitors alike. The moment you step in, you are greeted by the inviting aroma of freshly baked pizzas coming from a traditional wood-fired oven. The simplicity of the ordering process—paying at the counter, grabbing a drink, and collecting your pizza when the buzzer goes off—contributes to a relaxed, informal dining atmosphere. It reflects the true essence of a laid-back French café experience.
Customers rave about the Chèvre Miel pizza—a delightful combination of goat cheese and honey that perfectly balances savory and sweet. Add to that a bottle of house wine, and you have yourself a meal that doesn’t just satisfy hunger but also captures the essence of the region. Enjoying a pizza here, especially during sunset, is an unforgettable moment that creates a beautiful backdrop to your dining experience.
The café's appeal extends beyond just food. With friendly staff and a welcoming vibe, La Metairie encourages diners to embrace its self-service model. While some may find the self-service beer concept a bit pricey, it allows for greater exploration of their delightful selection of wines instead. Notably, on Thursdays and Sundays, the arrival of the fish and chip van brings an exciting twist to the menu, providing yet another delicious dining option.
La Metairie embodies a simple philosophy: great food, friendly service, and stunning views. It’s a place where you can forget the formality of fine dining and relish in the community spirit. With unforgettable dishes, such as their incredibly delicious pizzas and charming wines, and the vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere, La Metairie stands out as a little gem that you will cherish long after your visit.
So, whether you're looking for a quick bite after exploring the majestic Cité or wishing to enjoy a peaceful evening as the sun sets, La Metairie invites you in for a memorable culinary journey.

Fantastic views over the Cité. Delicious wood fired pizzas. Be aware that no pizza when the fish and chip van is scheduled. We weren't so keen on the self service beer concept as they are very expensive, drink wine instead!

A real gem! Our BnB host recommended we try this place for some pizza. Simple quick service. Pay and take a ticket, take your drinks, go order your pizza from the proper big wood fired oven. Collect when buzzer goes off. Very reasonably priced with stunning views over the castle and nice relaxed music. Our pizzas were absolutely delicious as was the house wine. If you are looking for an experience go! If you are looking white linen table service ... Not for you. We will always remember this wonderful spot

This is a really nice place to go around sunset, beautiful interior and exterior, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Only a few minutes walk from the main cité entrance, easily walkable with paths along the road. The chèvre miel pizza (goats cheese and honey) was well worth the money (around 15€), especially when combined with the view of the sunset behind the cité. Also a cat!

Beautiful little find in Carcassonne! A simple, friendly bar with a spectacular view of the Medieval City. We had a lovely bottle of wine watching the sunset. On Thursdays and Sundays a Chip Van pulls up for food, we were lucky to be here when this happened and we can say the fish and chips is delicious!!! The bar also has a pizza restaurant for when the chip van is not your thing or not there.

A nice place to visit. Nice food. Nice drinks. Get everything yourself at the counter and an "a laise" vibe. But this is cheap and much better then visiting Carcassonne. Don't come here if you expect 5 star menu. But come here for a good nice drink/food service and an amazing view.

If you want to see the best sunset, silhouetted by La Cité this is the place. The owners are super friendly, it’s nothing fancy but an awesome spot for a wine, cocktail or a beer.

Best views of the old city, perfect for sundowners. Drinks are good, tasty wood fired pizzas and excellent Lebanese food from Jessica!
